Dr Susan Okonkwo an obstetrician and Gynecologist by training is the CEO/Founder of Mwada-Gana Foundation a community-focused NGO that aims to provide quality maternal and newborn healthcare to patients in Nigeria’s Borno State. Founded in 2018, the organization bridges the gap between sexual and reproductive healthcare and communities that are remote or without health facilities in Borno State Nigeria – a region that has experienced an influx of displaced people as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency among other security challenges. She is a medical doctor and A Fellow West African College of Surgeon (FWAS) Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. She holds a master’s in public health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, USA, Masters in Clinical Research Administration, Walden University, USA. Prior to becoming CEO, Dr Okonkwo held positions in Maryam Abatcha Women and Children Hospital, Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria as Medical Director; State Specialist Hospital Maiduguri Borno State as Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Borno State, Nigeria; Aspen Medical Field, Iraq as Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and many more.
